Thursday, January 5th is the first Thursday of the month so I will be at Rohall’s Corner at 540 Amherst Street, Buffalo, NY.
The show starts at 8:36 promptly and will feature a new format. For all 2017 Rohall’s shows, the evening will feature a themed format. This week’s theme will be a tribute to Jackson Browne. The show will start at 8:36 pm, as usual, and from 9-10, all the music will be by Jackson Browne, including the entire Running on Empty album from start to finish.
Running on Empty came out my senior year of high school and I can remember seeing Jackson Browne live at the old Memorial Auditorium from the blue seats up under the oranges. It was a phenomenal show – nearly three hours long and featured David Lindley as part of the touring band that had played on the album.
In June of 1980, I remember sitting in the garage at the Asin’s – down the street from where my parents still live – singing every song on the album and very worried that I would not be able to figure out how to be a grown up. I’m still not sure about the grown up thing, but this is still one of my favorite albums of all time and I am looking forward to sharing it.
This will be my first attempt at a show like this and if it goes well I will certainly do more. If you have suggestions for a future theme please feel free to pass it along.
By the same token, if the idea is a disaster, I will abandon it and deny that I ever tried it.
I hope everyone has an excellent new year celebration and has a prosperous and successful 2017.
See you at Rohall’s if you can make it out – admission is always free – and a good time should be had without question.
